A tribute from Amazwi South African Museum of Literature
Amazwi is deeply saddened by the passing of Zoë Wicomb earlier this month. In February 2020 Wicomb visited Amazwi for the opening of an exhibition on J.M. Coetzee. Part of the programme was a day of discussions and reading by South African authors. Wicomb read extracts from 'Still Life' which was published later in 2020, and gave the audience a sneak peak of the soon-to-be-published work. Some photos of that event are included below.

On the 18th of July 2023, Mr Matshoba (Manager), Mrs Madinda (Education officer) and Ms Anela Lupuwana (Intern) of Amazwi South African Museum of Literature attended the Mandela Day event hosted by the Department of Social Development at Settlers Day hospital. The program was hosted for 30 blind and visually impaired people from “UpLiving with Disability.”

On the 29thof July 2023, Amazwi hosted Holy Cross Primary School where they performed a sketch. The sketch was written by Holy Cross children from grades 4 – 7.

On the 26th of July 2023, Amazwi had the pleasure of hosting the Funda Mzansi Eliminations 2023 at the museum’s auditorium.

On the 19th of July 2023, the Diocesan School for Girls (DSG) and St Andrew’s College’s Grade 9s visited Amazwi for a tour of the museum and a presentation on literary works.
