The Mandela Day 2023!

On the 18th of July 2023, Mr Matshoba (Manager), Mrs Madinda (Education officer) and Ms Anela Lupuwana (Intern) of Amazwi South African Museum of Literature attended the Mandela Day event hosted by the Department of Social Development at Settlers Day hospital. The program was hosted for 30 blind and visually impaired people from “UpLiving with Disability.”
Holy Cross hosts learners for a play at Amazwi!

On the 29thof July 2023, Amazwi hosted Holy Cross Primary School where they performed a sketch. The sketch was written by Holy Cross children from grades 4 – 7.
Funda Mzansi Eliminations 2023!

On the 26th of July 2023, Amazwi had the pleasure of hosting the Funda Mzansi Eliminations 2023 at the museum’s auditorium.
Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s Visit!

On the 19th of July 2023, the Diocesan School for Girls (DSG) and St Andrew’s College’s Grade 9s visited Amazwi for a tour of the museum and a presentation on literary works.
Sindiwe Magona: An Exhibition coming up in August!

Amazwi is working on an exhibition on the life and work of Dr Sindiwe Magona, in celebration of her 80th birthday in August 2023. This poem is titled ‘Writing’ and was published in 2009 in her collection, ‘Please Take Photographs’.

PGDHM Candidates at The Eastern Star

On the 25th of July 2023, the Post Graduate Diploma in Heritage Management (PGDHM) candidates, Vatiswa Nhanha and Nompumeza Makinana, were taken on a tour of the Eastern Star Satellite Museum of Amazwi South African Museum of Literature by Exhibitions Officer – Lwazi Bhengu.
